The best plants for your office

It is not uncommon for a plant purchase to be made out of boredom, which two weeks later leads to another plant having to meet its end in a withered state on the windowsill. 

For those who want some refreshment in the office, but have a black thumb, let me tell you: you too can find the right plant for you. And with a little care, it will beautify your desk in the long run.

Why are plants important?

Plants contain chlorophyll and perform photosynthesis through sunlight. They form the nutrients they need themselves by producing substances such as lipids, proteins or carbohydrates through water and carbon dioxide.

Through this process, plants are veritable "air filters". They clean the air of pollutants such as formaldehyde, trichloroethene or benzene and instead supply it with sufficient oxygen and moisture, which benefits us humans.

But it's not just the inside that's important, the outside counts too! The color green has been shown to relieve stress and calm, improving grueling days at the office.

DRAGON TREE

One of the most popular office plants, the dragon tree conveys vacation feelings with its resemblance to palm trees. Especially plant banausen like the dragon tree because of its low water requirements. It should be kept warm, however, avoiding direct sunlight and finding a shady spot.

BIRCH FIG

The birch fig is also easy to care for and needs very little water. Its small, light green leaves are a real eye-catcher for the office. It feels especially at home in sunny places, but does not tolerate drafts. This should be taken into account when choosing a place for this plant.

MONSTERA

One of the most famous houseplants is Monstera Deliciosa. This plant, which originally grew as a lily around trees in the rainforest, can reach a height of a proud three meters! Similar to the dragon tree, the monstera likes it bright and warm, but not directly in the sun. It also needs regular watering to keep from dying and to reach its full potential.

DIEFFENBACHIE

With its green-yellow patterned large leaves, the Dieffenbachia definitely brings more color to the office. It enjoys a bright and semi-shaded spot and regular watering. The tropical rainforest plant can grow up to 60 centimeters tall. However, care should be taken with animals and children: Dieffenbachia is poisonous and can cause irritation of mucous membranes, severe swelling and pain if eaten.

BOW HANF

Interesting about the bow hemp is the adaptation of its coloration to the light conditions. The darker its place, the darker the leaves become. The plant belongs to the cactus plants and is native to tropical Africa. Therefore, it stores a lot of water and rarely needs watering. It is also practical that it is happy with any location and survives even the most careless office worker.
